At the Shelter of Distance

Rui Catalão

Based on several personal testimonies, Ao Abrigo Da Distância is a mosaic of the African diaspora, in the form of small scenic portraits. It focuses on their communities and their complex family relationships, often lived at a distance, under the spectre of separation or even abandonment. It follows people from various points on the African map, who converge on Portugal, before dispersing again to Northern Europe.
