Self-Uncensored

Self-Uncensored proposes a reflection and a deep awareness of contemporary forms of censorship in democratic contexts, focusing on the indirect mechanisms of censorship that lead to self-censorship and internalised censorship.

Self-Uncensored seeks to identify how dynamics related to invisible processes of censorship manifest in today’s world and infiltrate artistic work, compromising what should, by nature, be a space of freedom and resistance — a space whose impact resonates throughout society.

Self-Uncensored aims to encourage the development of more conscious artistic practices, capable of resisting dynamics shaped by self-censorship, by adaptation to standardising support systems, by dominant agendas, market pressures, or the expectations and ambivalences of artistic communities themselves.

Expanded Festival

Self-Uncensored is conceived as an expanded festival that goes beyond traditional formats, unfolding over several months between 2025 and 2026 through short events held in different spaces and contexts. Developing as a research project, an artistic gathering, and a curatorial platform, its main focus is the questioning of contemporary forms of censorship in “democratic” contexts, particularly the mechanisms that lead to self-censorship and internalized censorship.
