For this first moment of public sharing, Self-Uncensored proposes a reflection based on the work of artists who, in some way, relate to direct forms of censorship and mechanisms of resistance.
The programme aims to uncover possible contexts of resistance in safe scenarios, confronting situations of direct censorship with the reality of democratic contexts where, even so, there are constraints on the exercise of freedom.
The aim of this presentation is to remind us of the fragility of rights in a democracy and how being a migrant can be an indirect weapon against power structures.
By bringing together artists whose relationship with direct censorship takes place from a safe distance, their works present poetic and performative strategies of resistance which, far from explicit confrontation, operate in the field of the sensitive and of subversion.

Self-Uncensored is a project that challenges the artistic community to reflect on and become aware of the various forms of censorship that permeate the world today - including in democratic contexts. In particular, it seeks to identify how these dynamics manifest themselves in contemporary society and infiltrate artistic work itself, through mechanisms of self-inflicted and internalised censorship, compromising what should be, by nature, a space of freedom and resistance.
By analysing these mechanisms, the project aims to encourage the construction of more conscious artistic practices that resist dynamics shaped by self-censorship, by adapting to uniform support systems and prevailing agendas, by market pressures or by the expectations and ambivalences of the artistic community itself.
