Homesick for Another World

Mei Liu is a filmmaker, artist and performer from Shanghai who currently lives.

Homesick for Another World is a performance-lecture weaves together documentary materials, oral histories, and collected dreams, alongside speculative fictional exploration and personal reflections stemming from her escape during lockdown. The performative narrative hints at erased stories and current mass manipulation. The theme of dreaming under confinement—as a form of escape and freedom—is explored with humour, linking universal consciousness, human memory, and our technological present. The narrative becomes a portal to “another world” that might exist in the future.
